Do you know what the transmission came from, year and model. It must be a 4spd. All three speeds are from older vehicles with a few exceptions late 80's with the 200, W/T's, 454ss' and 2500+ trucks with the 400. Most RWD transmissions from GM only had two main bell housing bolt patterns. I-4 to v-6 (60 degree blocks) or v-8 (includes the 4.3 v-6) there are RWD v-6's smaller that the 4.3, I don't know what they use but they are only found in cars. c1500 you will have the 4.3, 5.0 or 5.7 in your truck and it should have the 2wd 4L60e transmission. Please check. Here are the key things to look for. The 4L60e will have a large multiwire plug on the passenger side on the top of the casting (above the pan) going down into the tranny. It will not have a T/V (throttle valve) cable passenger side just rear of the bellhousing by the fluid connections. Your truck (being the start of the transition to the Vortec's) should have a stand alone TCU (transmission control unit) on the drivers side inner fender. The 4l60 and 700r4 are almost identicle and are interchangeable. The casting is almost the same as the "e" above except for it only has a small 4-wire plug and has the T/V cable mentioned above. Now you need to verify the bolt pattern on your bellhousing. They are fairly different a few measurements from bolt to bolt should tell you if they are the same. The tail shaft. You have a 2wd you will need a 2wd tranny with a tail shaft. The tail shaft can be bolted onto a 4wd tranny but the splined output shaft it two short to work with your driveshaft. You can run 700r4 and 4l60 in the truck in lue of the 4l60e, but you will need to add the T/V cable and braket to the throttle linkage on the throttle body. You can run the 4L60e in older trucks but you will need the TCU and you will have to wire it in. There are aftermarket ones that are programable (I have one from TCI for a 4l60e/80e). You can run the older 3spds but they have a kick down cable instead of the T/V. Kinda the same thing, it can be hooked up. The tranny lenght and output shaft may be different and a custom driveshaft will be required but the bellhousings are the same. I think that is enough for know.

Ok from your older post your saying that it is a '08 4L60e. Please confirm that your truck above has the stand alone TCU and has a 4L60e discribed above. Is the new tranny from a 2wd or 4wd truck (with or without the tail housing and output seal? Thanks.
Will a starter on 5.0 fit on a5.7 years are 98
I have a question I have a 2000 GMC SIERRA 4.3 v-6 . I am looking at a 2008 4.3 V-6 That was in a Chevrolet Silverado . That is complete my question is will it bolt up to my transmission and motor mounts with no problems ?
The truck is a 93 GMC. Trying to put in moter and transmission. In out of a 95 Silverado there both 1500's
What will it take to. Put. The Moter and tranny in. To the gmc. There 4.3from the Silverado
What will it take to. Put. The Moter and tranny in. To the gmc. There 4.3. from the Silverado 1500when tranny is diffant. In the silverodo
I had to weld my mounts in. I dropped a 1980 5.7 and 700 r4 in my 1993 Silverado 1500. It originally had the 4.3. I removed the old mounts and bought new 4.3 mounts ant attached them rubber mounts on the block. I cut my old stock mounting brackets off of the plates that bolted to the frame, cleaned them up, set the motor/transmission/driveshaft all in place and welded the brackets to the frame so if the ever wear out I can unbolt from the block and change the bushing. Or self tapping bolts but that's scketchy. My drive shaft is about an inch shallower in the tailshaft and my linkage needs some TLC.
