Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Drove 7 miles, service engine light comes
on- all gauges read good. Drive 20 miles
hot day, light still on gauges show
everything good. Check under hood water
overflow still at cold level. Is water

With the engine cold remove the radiator cap and check the fluid level. If it's low, fill it to the very top. Start the engine and see if the fluid level drops down. If it does, top it off to the very top again. Put the radiator cap back on and go to your local auto parts store and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. If the thermostat is stuck open the engine will not warm up to operating temperature. This will cause the check engine light to come on and a trouble code to be set. Once you get the code post it here and we can help further. Jim
