the end of your battery cable (the non-clamp side) has a bolted connection to the chassis/frame...regardless of how it LOOKS, undo the bolt, wirebrush the lug and the place that it attaches to to assure a 300 cca connection~...the cable goin' up to the motor too (near the alternator)~

the battery pulls enough power to "weld" the connection....which it does and a little blue arc appears and some corrosion is left behind...you cannot see this phenomenon, because the requirements of the ignition and fuel pump can tolerate varying amperages and voltages....but the delicate computer controls do not do well with varying amperages and voltages...this is hard to notice until failure~.....why pray..tell do they stick a .75Amp requirement on the same playfield as the 300 amp requirement makes no sense at all~

get your ground nice and clean and your computer will stop belly-achin'~
after you do what mark said to do and you still have a problem,go to your auto parts store and get a bottle of CHEVRON FUEL INJECTION AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER.It comes in a black bottle, read instructions then add to your fuel tank.Ive got a 1996 k-1500 with 5.7 vortec,it started misfiring and did what you said and still had problem.Put CHEVRON FUEL INJECTER CLEANER in at let it idle for 4 to 5 minutes and my misfire was gone. The 5.7 vortec has a very PICKY ATTITUDE one slight inerference with the engine and it will let you know in a BAD way.GOOD LUCK!!!! Thanks mark for your answr ill write that one down!
sorry my answer had the name MARK in it.It should read judge _roy.sorry!!

Chevron's got techron in there already....so if your motor is picky and gums up easily that'd be the one....the Toyota would run on vodka,,,the MINI must have 93 or runs like crap.~
Have you checked the O2 sensor?
Hi, I found out that the distributors on the vortecs wear out and cause these problems, some say only 100,000 miles. Mine is 243,000, but a new one fixed it. The OEM are plastic and the shaft starts to wobble as they wear and age and produce misfires.. Got a new one made from aluminum with cap and sensor for $34 on eBay, works great. I first had changed everything from sensors to filters and injectors, even cats, but it was the distributor. To set the new one on a vortec you have to use a scan tool, you are really setting the cam sensor since the engine is self timing. Instead I bought an app, Car Gauge Pro and a obd2 blue-tooth adapter I got on eBay (BAFX) and set mine for under $35,
Timing chain !!!!! I had hell with mine running bad, stalling and no start. Sensors, injectors, wiring nothing worked. It has close to 300,000 miles. A loose chain will mess with the crankshaft and camshaft correlation, which throws everything else out of whack. The foot bone is connected to the ankle bone and so on. Lol
