engine hesitates while driving

Is it hesitating while driving down the road or when you come to a stop, like at a stop sign or a traffic light?
If the vehicle is hesitating while driving down the road, it's most likely and ignition system problem like bad distributor cap or rotor, spark plugs or wires fouled out causing the engine to miss (not firing on all cylinders). If the vehicle is hesitating at idle, or at a stop sign or light, it's most likely a fuel system problem like a faulty fuel pump, plugged fuel filter, leak in fuel line or bad fuel injector. If the vehicle is hesitating while driving down the road and at rest it's most likely a timing issue

My 1998 GMC Sierra with the 5.7 is hesitant to accelerate when I’m driving. Like I have to sit there and barely give it gas just to get up to speed. Some times I have to shut the engine off and turn it back on to get it to accelerate faster and even then if I were to give it the beans it kinda bogs down
