why did my 2004 gmc sierra z71 5.3 stick

My son was exiting a tI'm Hortons  shop in his 2004 gmc sierra z71 5.3 the gas pedal was
to the floor and no power he pushed it down hard nothing engine light came on and went
out then suddenly he had full throttle  can someone please help me as the cop has
charged him with stunt driving thankyou so much catherine.

Oh mark thankyou so much for your info we just replace all brand new throttle positioning sensor And news pedal from gm and it came back on my son's truck again after 620 bucks later lawyer went to court on sons behalf today but we really looking at 5 gran to beat this picton ont cop even with a dashcam rolling showing no such thing as a stunt driving accusation hmmmmm seems cops can make up lies sad world supposed to be serve ND protect don't think so in this world mark lough thankyou somuch for caring tc all the best to you stay safe regards catherine
