05 S4 price and what to check

Hello,I am looking at a 2005.5 S4 with 116,000 miles on it
It has had 2 or it may be the 3rd including the mechanic that has it now. He buys cars and fixes them up. I have not pulled a carfax on it yet but what do you think it's worth? He is asking $14,000.
Also, are there specific things that go bad with this model i should look for in my check?

Given your situation...and assuming that the car is otherwise in excellent mechanical and physical condition...I wouldn't pay more than $13,000 for the car (2005 Audi S4-V8-6 Speed/AT Quattro Sedan). That's not just an arbitrary guess on my part, but an "educated opinion" based on extensive driving experience and car ownership.
Thanks so much for your help. That's the kind of opinion that's worth something. I read on a forum that if you have the automatic, unlike the manual, if you push it hard it the tranny will go out. Have your heard this or did someone not get what they were talking about. I understand that mechanical things have a limited life but i could see that being so on say a corolla. But not an S4 that should be enginered for such behavior be it an auto or manual. Are there other models you like that are like this one? Say the m3, an mb clk or s series, infiniti g35, some of the many I am trying to narrow down. Thanks again for your help!
