Car wont start or crank

Asked by aminmanan Nov 11, 2014 at 05:55 PM about the 2004 Audi A4 3.0 quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Audi A4 and was recently replacing a broken window regulator. After I
was done I tried starting the car, it would crank but not start so i thought i must have
left the lights on while working on the window. So I plug in those portable battery
chargers and let the battery charge for the night with the hood open. I wake up and test
it, this time I dont even get a crank, I try jump starting and still no crank. I dont know
whats wrong, the lights dont dim when I turn the key so  dont think its the battery.

sounds like a bad Starter or blown fuse. Try getting under your car and check the start wires. A common issue with audi starters is there cable between the points and the solenoid rot off. Has the car been struggling to start lately ?
