STARTER 2004 gmc sierra 2500 hd

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to figure out why my truck blows through
starters. I replaced starter 2- 3 years ago.  Then
had to replace again last year. Last year I installed
a brand new one.  Truck stayed acting up and
starter was furthest from my mind.  Decided to
give it a whack this morning just in case amd sure
enough the truck turned over.
Are they simply making crap starters and I keep
getting a defective one or is there a reason I fried
my 3rd starter in 4 years?  Of course the place I
bought the new starter from Car Quest has been
bought out. Won't be returning that one I guess
Any help would be great before I waste more time
and money

Dont buy the car quest junk, get yourself the A/C Delco brand

Thanks I appreciate it. Advanced auto exchanged it For me after checking serial number. He basically iluded to what Joemom had said saying there's a lot of junk out there. A buddy of mine said there was a possibility the fly wheel may have damage and could cause starters to wear out quick. Been able to avoid costly repairs by doing things myself but that's above my pay grade. Luckily when I looked on after removing starter everything was in good shape. I just installed new starter and I'll see how long it lasts. If it goes I'll take your advice and upgrade the starter. Now I'm off to see if I can get my horn working so I can get it inspected. She's an old girl that's slowly breaking down. Can't wait to see what questions I'll have on the next repair LOL thanks again fellas

Buy a Bosch starter, it is guaranteed as long as you have your vehicle. I bought mine from Part Source because I was having the same problem, now that Bosch starter has been in my GM for 5 years now,and not a problem at all.
