Type your VIN in here and it will give you the specs on your vehicle: http://chevroletforum.com/forum/vindecoder.php (it's also in your owner's manual but I know a lot of people don't have those).

From what I read it will pull about 17,000 with that combo of the 8.1 big block and the Allison trans. Also gets into rear end ratios as well.

I have the exact truck. I found before I bought it that it would tow about 25000 as s fifth wheel. I have a 42’ toy hauler. With about 300 gallons of water and gasoline plus my Harley which weights about 700 with all my stuff. U know women always have stuff. I have been in the mountains of Tenn Virginia I frequent Long Island Ohio etc (I live in Florida). Other than it picks up speed in the mountains which I attribute to the altitude I’ve never had a problem. I have weighted total camper loaded and truck is about 25,000 pounds. Oh yeah I have also put my motorcycle trailer on the back of my fifth wheel loaded including my hotdog cart. I’m a mobile food vendor. No problem. But not in mountains only in Florida. Hope this helps If you ever see Granny’s Grill and Seafood Eatery stop say hi and get a free meal Brenda

I would like to see that pull. Seems a bit overwhelming for that combo.

I pulled a 2000 Jayco Designer 3710 with 2002 GMC 2500HD with an 8.1/Allison combo total wgt. of 16,900, MPG was about 6-8 at 60MPH, or 1500-1700 RPM. The afore mentioned wgt. of 25,000 sounds a little extreme tho. I'm going with a D-max next time in a 2500HD

I tow a 40’ weekend warrior garage hauler with my 1953 willys in it and it tops at 22k. My 2500hd is the 4d, long bed 4wd with the 8.1 Allison combo and I’ll say that truck has towed that trailer for 6 years with almost zero issues or hiccups. I even lost a brake booster in the yuba river canyon on hwy 49 and it still held the trailer back in first gear and stopped it completely at the bottom with no hydro assistance. Best truck I ever owned and I plan on keeping it
