Hi,

Just bought car a month ago. I finally got to take it on a semi-long drive from L.A to San Diego. Once I got the car up to 80 mph, it went into Fail-Safe mode. It did this twice on the way there and twice on the way back. On the rare occassion, I may like to push it to 110-120 mph, but what's the point in having a sports car you can't drive fast. Any idea what could be causing this?

Sounds like there is a problem with the onboard computer system. Have this diagnosed by a dealer. Something is malfunctioning at the higher speeds and causing it to go into "stay alive" mode.

Yesterday, the dealer ran the Vag and concluded the transmission fluid is heating to maximum temp. The mechanic tried to reproduce the same situation (by taking my car home for the night), but was unable to do so. They seem to be perplexed and are awaiting a response from Audi Tech. Services at which point they will call me with the verdict.
