The transmission or something else?

Asked by Bambi Apr 08, 2020 at 10:43 PM about the 2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took my 2003 GMC Yukon Denali XL 6.0 all-wheel
drive to a friend to replace my radiator with a brand
new one he brought it back and said the
transmission hose fell down and the transmission
oil went everywhere and he replaced it but ever
since then it's been slipping I call him a mechanic
and because I'm female I feel like they dismiss me
and say transmission needs rebuilt 2800bucks. I
do not have that kind of money so it's been 3 years
now it still drives the same it slips and don't go
over 40 miles an hour I have to have it in tow mode
though and only drive in town if it was
transmission problems wouldn't of died by now?

One thing that comes to mind is many GMs have a transmission fluid temperature sensor build into one of the transmission fluid cooling lines that goes to the radiator. If your friend didn't hook up that sensor it will affect your transmission shifting. Hope that helps! Jim
