Is something on the gauges telling you to shut it down? And does the motor make any type of noise when it shows low oil pressure?

yes it starts knocking so i was told to turn the truck off when the gauge (oil) goes all the way down to 0

Well then depending on how many miles are on the engine, you could try and replace the oil pump. If you get into it, and have the oil pan down then you should have some of the bearing checked to see how bad they are worn. If the bearing show a lot of wear, then an oil pump will not solve this noise and low oil pressure.
