Does a timing chain need to be replaced in a Honda Element like a timing belt?

No. At least not like a belt. A chain can stretch after many, many miles and possibly jump time, maybe one tooth, but the bottom line to answer your question is No.

Thanks. So basically no need to replace the chain unless it is broken. Not as preventive maintenance like a belt chain.

It's extremely unlikely the timing chain is going to break. Sure, it happens, but very rare. So Your above statement is correct.
