Sante Fe Not Turning Off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe with 140,000 miles on it. Last weekend I started having a problem with the car not shutting off when it is turned off. If I hit the gas again once or twice it will shut off. One of the days I was driving it I kept smelling gas. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

The car was also hesitating when taking off from a stopped position.

Seems to be an ongoing issue with the same defective ignition switch in these vehicles as the Ford, Honda, Acura, Lexus, Toyota, and Infinity that all use the same bad parts. Change the ignition switch and consider yourself lucky you didn't get cheated by crooked dealerships and dishonest manufacturers.
