i have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee limited with a 4.0 6cyl. After it sits a couple hours it just crtanks and cranks and doesnt start unless I spray starting fluid in it. When its warmed up or only sits for an hour or so its fine. Any ideas as where to start looking without throwing a bunch of $ at it?

Maybe it is time for a new fuel pump. When it won't start, bang on the gas tank and if the pump starts you know it is time for a new one.

i hear the pump prime when i turn the key on. like i said, its only when the it sits for a bit. when i hit it with ether it fires right off and stays running just fine

Try the fuel pump relay.and anything else related to holding fuel line pressure.ie.Fuel pump pressure regulator The pump is in the tank and the largest job, with the most expensive part
