overdrive button, on of off if light is on

I just got a 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4, it is full time 4wd...has an overdrive button...if says o/d off....if the light is on..does that mean overdrive is off???

Yes, overdrive is the default setting, so if the light for "O/D Off" is lit, then overdrive is disengaged.

That is what I assumed....do you suggest using the o/d while doing regular driving? This is my first 4WD. Thanks

yes, in most cases it will help your fuel economy- if you are towing, shut off the overdrive so that you don't hurt it.

mine just came on last evening out of no where, i have 2004 jeep cher, laredo...should i be concerned???please advise...

I have turned it on unintentionally when changing gears. The button is right there on the gear shift and easy to hit by accident,

I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee with the hemi and I am trying to figure where the over drive button is located so I can turn it off and when I come to a stop it shuts off but starts back up will o2 sensor cause this our a exhaust leak be the problem
