Why does my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo die while driving?

I would suspect that the coil fails when it heats up. Try some starting fluid next time it dies. If it fires, it's getting spark. No fire, no spark - replace the coil.

its your camshaft position sensor is bad ,mine did that couple time.after changing the c p s ,problem solve

My grand cherokee did this. After 3 mechanics, it ended up being the crank shaft sensor. No problems since.

I had this issue. The crank Shaft Position Sensor was problem. Easy and inexpensive fix.

i having the same problem and I replaced the crank shaft sensor and it still does it but for some it started again about 2 weeks after I replaced it and we have done everything.... mine will start right back after it stalls I don't have to wait it cuts off and starts right back up. sometimes it acts like it wants to cut off and it will spit and sputter even if I try to cut it off if anyone can help please I could really use it

hello, the fix for this problem is in the bottom of your electronic ignition distributor, there is a ceramic module in the bottom under the roater plate, over time this module will crack internally and separate when the distributor gets hot, when it cools off the module will make contact again and the car will start and run until the module gets hot again. I just replaced my distributor with another one off of ebay for $35.00, Problem solved.
