i can put my jeep in reverse and it will bak up and no noise but when i put it in drive and try to go forward it doesnt want to move but then it will move a little with grinding noises in it and then

either the transfer case is going out or what it sounds like is pitch in angle of driveshaft or bolts are loose on rear dif chevt 2500 threw me the other day 20yrs exp drivelins

depending what you are hearing, it can also be the pump seals and converter issue. at any rate you would end up cleaning out the passages during a Rbld. the service bulletins and recalls can be performed at that time if you read and verify they apply to your VIN.
