COUPLE THINGS, THE WATER PUMP MIGHT NOT BE PUMPING COOLANT THROUGH THE ENGINE ANYMORE. WITH NEWER VEHICLES THE PROPELLERS ARE MADE OF PLASTIC AND THEY STOP WORKING AFTER A WHILE. NEXT, CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR FANS ARE COMING ON. LASTLY, IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS ONE...A COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR.

All what Atuminaro says above is true, but after a coolant flush & thermostat change, you would need to purge the coolant system from air pockets. Check this video out.... youtube.com/watch?v=xeTgmdRkQtY
