Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey all. I just bought a 2000 GC 4.7 limited edition. The previous owner said he just recently changed the fuel pump, then one day ran the truck out of gas. Now, truck will not start. Any ideas? Not sure if the pump would burn out that easy. Did it may be just pull crap into the filter?
Also, is there any notorious problems with this truck i should know about? Thanks...
