I have a 2000 jeep Grand Cherokee that the Driver's side rear door is not unlocking. I have removed the entire latch and taken apart to clean and lubricate but cannot get it to "unlock" properly. There are two small springs inside the latch, one seems to be in lace but the other does not. Please help. Thank you, John C

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Rear Door Latch not unlocking

Thanks for reply. This door would not open from either the inside or outside. I took the inner door panel off to physically unlock the door and open it. After cleaning as much of the crap out of the latch, it still would not release the arm that locks on the door pin. So I took out the two screws and viewed and cleaned inside the latch. It locks fine now but with one sprig not in place (I cant tell where it goes as it popped out when removing cover plate) it will not "unlock but the other arm that hold the locking arm in place does disengage and the unlock arm should recede back to open from door pin. But it doesn't.
