Noise from under the front end

Asked by Howard Jan 25, 2021 at 10:14 AM about the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have noise from the front end when driving over bumps, a mechanic said it was
the pitman arm. I  don't see how since it doesn't go up and down, could he mean
the drag link where they join?

The pitman follows the linkage side to side , there's one arm from the steering box and another as an idler arm , which may be the pit man I forget .
