Sounds like it might be dirty battery terminations or a battery with low voltage. Make sure the connections are clean and tight. Check the voltage with a meter.

Generally I have found this problem can be resolved with a new starter. If your starter is the original from when the vehicle .If your are hearing a clicking sound when you attmept to start the vehicle (most likey your starter)

I would defiantely take the advice of tenspeed first, if battery and all the connections are fine then move on to replacing the starer.
