Why won't my car start?

Asked by JeanH Aug 16, 2016 at 08:54 AM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

a few days ago my gas tank strap broke and my gas tank fell out of my car. I
was only driving 5 mph when it happened.  I put everything back together with
a new strap and now my car will only turn over. and will not start.  I have
checked all the connections and nothing seems loose.  What could the
problem be.

When you say that the tank fell out, did it just drop down on one side or actually fell out on the ground? More than likely the electrical connections to the in-tank fuel pump were damaged. I would take it to a shop and have them test it for fuel pressure.
