'04 Cherokee door not being recognized as closed?

Asked by tsande0356 Feb 08, 2017 at 12:22 PM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday I had noticed that my Cherokee did not recognize that the driver
door was closed. I kept closing my door in hopes that I just didn't secure
the door, but that didn't help. Then, my lights wouldn't go off, so I had to
turn the lights to off so that it wouldn't waste my power. I then realized that I
could not pull down any window in my car. I tried to see if I could pull down
a window from a door individually, that still didn't work. Lastly, I noticed that
when I tried to lock all the doors...that wouldn't work, so I would have wait
for a little bit and then it might work. Does anyone know of any fixes for this
type of issue?

I had talked with the dealship that I got my Jeep from. The guy told me that I would need to play with the strip that's on the door (because the wiring is in that), and to see if that resolves the issue.
