Why is it still running hot?

Have u taken an infrared thermometer and checked the actual engine temp. Did you use the same coolant temp sensor off the old engine? I have a 98 olds where the temp gauge reads 220⁰F but actual engine temp @ the temp sensor is 198⁰F - 200⁰F.

Also check the radiator cap.

Check the actual temperature of the engine.

Radiator came with the cap. And how to check temperature other than gauge? The gauge reads hot. Typical runs from 195-220. The gauge gets to about 250 and I switch it off.

U need an infrared thermometer. Harbor freight or local parts store, and maybe even Walmart carries them. And did the use the same temp sensor from the old engine?

The old engine had a new one in it. This one I’m unsure. Doubtful because I didn’t do the engine swap. I’ll get a sensor and test the temp and get back.

Ok, if it still reads hot I'd check the catalytic converters and muffler.
