why does my 2005 jeep grand cherokee not move without the front drive shaft

I removed the front drive shaft to replace the cv joint. when i tried to move it it
wont move unless it is in 4low. I have the quadra drive system with a 5.7L

Inside clutches are sensing an abnormality. Keeps it from further damaging the transfer case. Put it in 4lo and it will move but much slower. That is want you said to another person that asked this same question.?
