Audi A4 1.8T 1998 Wont Start!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hi everyone,
My audi a4 1.8T is not running. It will turnover but
wont properly start up.
I've had issues with the throttle body ever since I
bought it and knew that it needed to be replaced.
The computer says the only problem is the throttle
body so could it be that the throttlebody has
completely failed and that's the reason why it's not
starting or could there be other factors?
Thanks alot!

these cars have many factors that can add to a non start situation a throtle body is just one of them. If i were you try having the car scanned with some ross tech software. you can get a cheap enough dongel and program from amazon and scan it your self. this will help you look in the right place for the answer. But as for primary reasons of no start your looking at cloged crank case hoses which happens in most these cars, could be a dead coil pack or require new plugs, the throtle body may need to be replaced and or cleaned, is it getting fuel ? if not possibly fuel filter or fuel pump. can be anything till you read the codes.
Hi Deathjam! I got a vagcom and the full software on my laptop. I looked at all my fault codes, I got... 17978/P1570/005488 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer 00670 - Throttle Position Sensor (G127) 18010/P1602/005634 - Power Supply B+ Terminal 30: Voltage too Low The 18010 code disappeared after attaching jump starter cables to the battery and charging it from my other car. Throttle position sensor disappeared after cleaning the throttle body and reattaching the sensor back onto the throttle body The engine start blocked by immobilizer fault code is persistent and wont go away. I only recently got a new key cut and coded as I lost the original key a few months ago but has been working fine until now. Is there anyway to bypass the immobilizer? Thanks alot :)
not sure why your replie is not there but if you had a new key cut and it won't start due to immobiliser then your car key became desynced. do this (unhook both battery terminals and touch them together to drain any remaining charge. Re attach battery cables, 2 insert key turn to power on position *do not start* leave it for 15-20 minutes, turn back to power off then try starting it. some times this works other times it doesn't its a manuel resync for the key. You likely need to take the key back to where the key was cut and have it reprogramed to the car.
Ok I will try that over the next few days and let you know how it goes! Thanks!
