I Am Starting A 1991 Lincoln Town Car That Was Not Run For Several Years
Hello,
My father recently died and I decided to purchase his 1991 Lincoln Town Car
Executive Series, but he didn't drive this car for about 3 - 5 years. When the car
was parked, the engine was running well. I was in the garage today trying to
charge the battery, but it gone. I'll purchase another battery. I thought that i would
start the start up process by completing the following:
1) Change Engine Oil
2) Flush Radiator, refill with new antifreeze
3) Remove spark plugs and check.
4) change gas filter and refill with fresh gas
Once in the past on another car that i started up after sitting for a very long time, i
removed the spark plugs and squirted a light oil into the pistons and let it sit for
about day or two. Then I changed the oil and try to crank the engine without the
spark plugs to make sure everything was freed up.
Now you may be seeing my question(s). I can't remove the spark plugs to put oil
down into the cylinders in the overhead cam V8 or can I? Any suggestions?
Should I do anything else before attempting to start this vehicle again?
I would rather spend hours preparing then to try to start this engine and cause ti to
have any issues. I think the car has less than 50,000 miles.
Thank you for your help,
