Occasional white smoke from exhaust, Diagnosis?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Ive got a 1993 Lincoln Town Car that puffs white smoke when hot, hot start, and slow traffic. Im
not sure where to start with this one. The car was recently purchased from an old lady whom
didnt drive much, it sat with dirty oil for a while. Oil has since been changed. Any insight will
greatly be appreciated, thanks guys

Good advice. There are a few things that can go wrong to cause smoke at operating temp but instead of throwing money at it, I'd have the engine evaluated first as suggested.
Pure white smoke or could it be a whitish light blue smoke? Does it smell sweet or like coolant or more like oil/gas mixture? Does smoke only just puff out then stop with no smoke after accelerating? If no loss of coolant I would lean towards valve guide seals. With the age of your car they are probably hard and brittle. Some say they will only cause smoke at start up but that is not correct. They can also do it just as yours does.
