This is not going to help you sekstan. Just wanted to say the radio in my '90 Town Car was a POS that the volume didn't work, it turned it's self on, reception nil. I don't know what Ford was thinking when they put a dirt cheap low quality radio in a car that cost $35,000 new in 1989. ( I found the original purchase contract in the car when I bought it: $34,990.. I did not buy it new) Don't spend a dime trying to repair it. Get another one.

Just buy one on ebay and install it yourself. There are plenty of used radios that will fit your car. Or, try http://oem-auto-accessory.com/index.html I haven't had to use these guys but I use their web site to learn about different radios available for ford and lincoln products.
