Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 96 Town Car will not start. I have replaced the starter, tested the battery,
and tested good, I also looked for bad wiring connecting to the battery and
everything looks good. When I put the key into the ignition and turn to the on
position I hear no clicking and now non of my lights on the dash work. There
is no check engine light or anything. None of the lights come on in the car
anymore. Starter relay and fuses are good as well. Could it be a bad ignition
cylinder or a bad alternator??

An alternator would not keep a car from cranking. You could try a voltage drop test to the starter, to see if proper voltage is reaching it depending on key position. (Google "voltage drop test" for a how to.) You could also test those battery cables and cable to alternator for continuity to make sure there isn't an "open" in that circuit. You may have a fusible link in one of those cables that may have blown, creating an "open" in the starter circuit. If all that checks ok then look for a bad ignition switch. (FYI the ignition switch is not the same as an ignition lock cylinder, which is where your key goes in.)

Have u tried the "wiggle test" on the battery terminals? Try and see if u can move the negative terminal. ( and the positive terminal) If the terminals have been replaced make sure the wires going to the terminals are tight. The reason to check the negative wires to the battery is that the negative wire has to b removed to change the starter or alternator.

So I took the vehicle to the shop and they found out that one of the ground wires was totally corroded which lead to no turning over when starting and having no lights. Thanks to all the replies. I'll leave the question posted for anyone with the same issue Thanks!
