You most likely have a bad door ajar switch. The driver door is on a separate circuit from the other three, and if you are noticing this problem when opening the driver door then that is the one that is bad. The switch is built into the door latch, if the plastic bushing on the latch is gone it can result in a faulty switch. You can also try cleaning the switch with WD-40, or a graphite spray. If it can't be cleaned it will have to be replaced. Lincolnforums.com has a stickied post just for these switches, as they tend to go bad on older cars: http://lincolnforums.com/forums/threads/10551-96-Lincoln-door-ajar-dome-lights-and-power-door-locks-issues
