What kind of air shock should I buy to replace the air suspension on a 1997 Lincoln town car executive series

Even with air shocks that is not suspension. You need a coil spring kit to replace the air bladders, then if you want an air adjustable shock, that's fine but won't hold the weight of the car. It's just a shock absorber that is adjustable for a smoother ride or lift.
Put coils in it it is cheaper and u will not have to replace the in 5yrs

Why do you have "air" suspension in the first place? Maybe I'm wrong, but, don't think that car came standard with that, is that correct?
Oh, yeah, the Town Car has had air-suspension since at least 1990
My current '95 was already changed out to coil when I bought it. Here's a nugget of info that may help you; I have read that putting in non-gas charged shocks is best for Town Car's because the gas charged shocks provide too stiff of a ride. They will change the dynamic of the TC. So springs = controlled movement from tire to car, and shocks = controlled movement from ground to tire.
does the town car have regular shocks or air shocks
