1997 Town Car air suspension

If the air ride is still inflating the bags then I wouldn't worry about it as generally the bags go before the pump but check the wiring to the pump for shorting. The candy cane hose is the exhaust tube for that perspective air bag. Do not attempt to plug as the bags WILL remain filled causing the stiff ride you are describing. Hmm..Did you plug the hoses?

As long as the air bag system is working properly, its a great system. But, as soon as it starts going bad, it time to replace it. Many places sell conversion kits for Lincoln Town Cars. I have been converting Town Cars to coil springs since 1996, and have done hundreds of them. The rear coil spring part number is CS817, which you can get at Advance Auto Parts, Autozone, and others. The ride is great, and once the conversion is complete, air bag problems and their expense is a thing of the past. "Coil springs will last a lifetime, air bags won't".

Absolutely NO need to buy the conversion kits......simply purchase the original equipment coil springs. I bought the original equipment coil springs for my 97 Lincoln towncar cartier addition for $98 from Oreilly's and paid my local shop $80 to take out my air bags and install them. The ride height in the back is much better, the steering is better and the ride feels more stable. I should have done this years ago!!!! He then simply pulled the fuse for the air ride compressor under the hood and now all I have to do is cut the wire for the dash notification which is behind the glove box. Less than $200 for the complete job.....

And I also got a kit but changing back to air ride for much better than springs on a limo I never convert to springs

Ok i have 97 lincoln town car executive I got the car pump bags everything workin fall hit pump stop comin on then i replcaced the control module under the glove box from 96 town car cam back on few days okay so i look up heigh sensor got that i new it had to get new bags but if i hook the air compressor to the battery i get i good ride depending on the temp i havent place the new bags on yet what could make my pump fo out if not the height sensor???? Can i font wanna damage the bags

Well, I took my Link to the Ford dealer up the street a few years ago and Had an air bag leak. Since I want the car to be as close to original as possible I had thrown about 5 grand into the whole suspension Ford replace the air bags and hoses for about $1,300 then Sears replaced the front end shocks control arms ect for about $1,400 then I had the drive shaft rebuilt and balanced which would have cost me another $1,360 + tax but I only paid $400 because I went out with the mechanics cousin on a blind date and it was a disaster...

Hell no not that expensive to replace with compatant mechanic or yourself I have 2 Lincoln Town cars love them want have anything else
