When should I change my oil?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Lincoln Town Car and I changed my oil back in July. I didn't know how to reset my oil change meter so I just left it there, and now the light is coming back on and says I need to change my oil soon. Should I change my oil? How often should I change it?

While the Reference is for the 2001 model, I think the reset process is the same for the 2003: 1.) Start your engine, or turn the key to the "Acc" mark to activate the electronics. Locate the information-center panel above the controls for your audio system. The panel has four buttons: FUEL, SETUP, RESET and STATUS. Press STATUS once to display OIL LIFE on the message center within your odometer cluster (next to the mileage indicator). 2.) Press RESET once; this will bring up the message IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET. Press and hold RESET. 3.) Release RESET after the message OIL LIFE RESET TO 100% appears. Depending slightly on the oil you use (standard vs synthetic) Tennisshoes rule-of-thumb is a good one for general maintenance. Cheap oil - change at 2k miles and expensive synthetic at 4-5k miles, but every three to four times a year is right on the money.

Every 10, 000 miles. I use Mobil One 15K mile Synthetic.
Looks like i will check on , i did a oil change December , never did my car ask for it . just want to know if they do. Mi honda ask me all the time . i use to do it that way . now i know nothing , i love my car .
Look in your owners manual and it simply spells it out for you! I had the same problem. Hold the left button in until it reads engine life 100%
