1996 Mercury Grand Marquis starting problem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1996 mercury grand marquis
Starts fine all year except when it gets in the 30’s or below.
First thing in the morning it will start and die, doesn’t matter if I hit the gas or not ,
then it restarts and is fine the rest of the day . The colder It gets the more times it
takes to start to keep running ( 10 degree it might take 4 times to start and  to stay
running then its good the rest of the day . No problem when the temp is above 35 or 40
.

yes...well the connection from the battery to the frame/ground is a tenuous on at best...what you've got to do is disconnect this connection from the lug to the frame...coarse wirebrush 'till shiny....bolt together again to allow full amperage at FULL voltage....insure that your battery is newer than five years old else get a NEW one~

Good point....the IAT (intake air temp) sensor probably needs replacement~ https://www.google.com/#q=1996+Mercury+Grand+Marquis+IAT+sensor

My 1996 Mercury grand marquis won’t start after driving 10 miles. It will after cool off. Could it be the starter?
