1997 / AC clutch sometimes works but not always

when working car cools just fine when not no cool /  automatic themostat system

Your AC system is designed to run the clutch as long as needed and then shut off. The idea is to prevent icing of the Evaporator. In hot weather - 90 F and above, it should almost never cycle. Below 80 F, it should cycle on and off regularly. If it cycles quickly and/or isn't cooling off, have the system checked for leaks and recharged.

Thanks Tracy...it seems to work in the A/c manual mode but not the automatic or max a/c mode...strange beast

I have same make n model. Behaving the same way. I was told it was something that wasnt opening up when it should. Needing a fix. Summer is soon!
