Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 1997 grand marquis, when i
turn my heater on it gets cooler instead
of hot. I wanted to say it was the
blower motor but it still blows, what
could it be?

Probably one of two things. either the HVAC Heater Control Valve in the heater hose, or the thermostat needs changing out. If it were the thermostat, you would notice your temperature gauge not getting to normal temp.

My temperature gauge is reaching normal temp so its not the thermostat. Where is the hvac located at?
Good morning. It is located under the hood in one of the heater hoses. Check this sight out for a picture... https://www.carid.com/four-seasons/hvac-heater-control-valve-mpn-74852.html?singleid=228464582&url=1266217

I appreciate it sir & good morning to you as well. Ok any other problems to look for when my heater is blowin air instead of heat? I dont think i hear it switch over when i turn it to defrost, vent , or floor could that be why its not getting hot
Yes that also, there are HVAC Blend Door Actuator under the dash, this sounds like its more of the problem. You can check your heater hoses to see if their both hot when the temperature control is set on hot. That would be checking the to see if the Heater Control Valve is open for heat. So this is what the Blend Door Actuator looks like... https://www.carid.com/1997-mercury-grand-marquis-air-conditioning-heating-parts/dorman-hvac-heater-blend-door-actuator-16860363.html
Sounds like a blend door problem. Happened to my 95 mercury grand marquis. There is a u tube on how to make the ac heater system run a program to troubleshoot
