2000 Grand Marquis strange electrical problem

Asked by Nashdrummerboy Jul 11, 2016 at 05:59 PM about the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will be driving normally....then what sounds like a "relay" behind the steering wheel clicks.... then the blinkers blink at strange intervals, alternator hum starts in radio, engine begins to knock, and a couple of warning lights come on for just a second...then go off.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Tman is right. You could get a computer at a junk yard. Check wiring harnesses. The CPU is in the dash L side upper. You could losein the one center bolt, work that huge wiring harness off, spray with contact cleaner, the re-install.
