04 Mercury Grand Marquis GS won't start

My question is. I have a 04 Mercury Grand Marquis GS with 94k on it ran like a tub 0 issues it would not start so I replaced the starter with a new one and it started then my shifter cable broke I replaced the shifter cable and it ran but only got first second neutral reverse and Park but my reverse lights came on when I put it in park when I went out to adjust the linkage the car will not start I checked the alternator it is good the starter is brand new the battery terminal connections are brand new the battery is brand new but will not start when I turn the key the locks lock and unlock but that is all it will do any help would be greatly appreciated
