Had you been running your ac? If so it sounds like part of the duct Work assembly under the dash. A pic would help. What is wrong with the box? Other than being cold. I will look at mine when wife gets in from work to see what you might be asking about.

I don't have a picture, and i don't believe there is anything wrong with it. Its my dads car and he asked me to research it as he isn't sure what it is. I couldn't find any info about it and was hoping some car guys/girls might know. It says Denso AA116300-7334 12N 03E 354

Mine is identical to that video. It is the blower box for the ac/heater. Your cabin air filter is installed there.
that's what I found it to be is the hvac system if you shave down the numbers to Denso AA116300 it comes up with this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-GEO-METRO-DENSO-HEATER-BOX-AA116300-2112-/261003682067?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3cc5082113 (im thinking the AA116300 is the hvac system and the rest is for whatever model of car)

you guys rock, ty so much for your help. I will show him this and let him go from there. I do know he was trying to find out where the cabin air filter might be because he wanted to change it, and he couldn't find it.
well you didn't ask for that info lol according to what I can find it doesn't have a cabin air filter ,,, this is a quote that ive found "your 2003 doesnt have one, unless installed by you (or a previous owner). eclipses came with one from the factory until 2000... after that it was deleted and requires installation. if you wish to install one, you need to remove the glove box and glove box liner. Then you need to cut out the plastic "blank" that currently resides where the filter would go." found at this link http://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/3rd-generation-64/how-do-i-remove-cabin-air-filter-2003-eclipse-12362/ you can however cut this blank out and install one if you want though, which I would be inclined to do as it would be nice too have some filtration, this is a link for where it would be located if you have a filter and I believe if you don't all your have to do is cut the blank out and install the filter into that spot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPGgnBvngvQ
Good catch Daniel that's what I get for just peeking around the edge of the glove box at mine. So went and removed the glove box and guess what It looks identical to that in the video except for a blank over the filter compartment. That's another best answer that should be awarded to you. Good job
