The charging light means your alternator is not putting enough voltage. Since you have to jump the car, I suspect your battery is low as well, since the alternator is not charging properly. Put a voltmeter across the battery leads and see what you have with the engine running. Is it 14V or higher? If not, new alternator. The brake light means you are low on fluid. Check the brake fluid resevior and add to the max. line. You have a leak since it's low, find where it is leaking and fix. You might have a rusted brake line or hose.

When I jump it off with the cables start right up there after while it' the break in engine light comes on

I have a 1997 Mitsubish Montero Sport and I replaced my alternator today and all of sudden the SRS light came on and my interior lights will not turn on. Hi--I just got my alternator changed today on my 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS AWD, the D (drive) indicator does not light up when I shift to the drive position? All the rest do light up (R, N, 3, 2 & L)???
