will a non 4x4 starter work in Nissan 4x4 truck w/2.4 engine, was told both starters fit that motor, 4x4 starter cost twice as much as non 4x4 starter

the best way to find out is to go to your local auto zone or whatever parts store you have, ask to see both parts, and compare them side by side. If the factory made two separate parts, its best you use the part they designed because there could be more things different about it. if one has a hood over the drive gear and one doesn't its probably because wither one is totally exposed, or it sits farther into the bell housing, for a different flex plate.
