Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 1993 Audi Quattro 4.2L V8 which sat for 2 yrs. Replaced starter last week & car now runs - but only for about 15 min before "shutting down"...sometimes preceded by a temp warning light, sometimes not...cleaned fuel pump intake screen & filter (lots of dirt in both)...my local Audi dealer (Dave Strong Audi of SLC, UT) wont even look at the car (the reason given is the car is "pre-Volkswagon")...

I would be monitoring ignition and fuel pressure on this car ,if you can get it to fail on a regular basis then you should be able to see what is giving you the issue. What is the dealer telling you ?Pre what? Why can,t people just be honest. Why could,t the manager just tell you that he either does not have anybody working there that knows how to work on the car, or that he does not want the job.If you ,and get stumped I will try and find a shop for you out that way,I am a Member of the iATN and converse regularly with shop owners that have shops in the salt lake area.
OK Jimbo I got a hold of a shop that is in Provo DJ Auto service,he is very willing to talk to you about the issues you are having with your Audi,if you are interested let me know and I will give you his phone number
Sorry not looking very carefully Tim ,sorry about the name mixup
I had this same problem. Changed the engine speed sensor and crank position sensor. Runs like a champ now. Can find the sensors on amazon and eBay. I got the ones for an Audi 5000 but they fit fine.
