i have a 1996 oldsmobile cutlass supreme it sputters idles rough and smooths out when you step on gas it stalled when put into gear

it was idling fine till a day ago but always idled rough when in gear now it idles rough when in park sputters and surges at idle now when I went to drive it it stalled and took me a half hour to get it started again and now it continues to idle rough surge and sputter with a shake I just bought it and need to know were to begin to look for the problem

3.4? They are prone to gaskets leaking at the intake manifold and that makes them run terrible. Check for codes first though. Nothing saves money like doing some proper trouble shooting first.

I had the same exact problem happened with my 95. I replaced the fuel rail and injectors and it was perfectly fine!
