How much will it average?

Asked by Guru99N762 Oct 12, 2020 at 02:08 PM about the 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4 Dr SL Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 cutlass supreme when the water
pump went out she of course started over heating
and it took 3 days b4 I could purchase a pump, I dis
keep water in it. On the morning trip to purchase
this water pump she died on me, hasn't been fixed
nor started since. Why won't she start? What's
average total cost upon a shop getting me behind
the wheel of my baby again?

My first suspect would be the ignition control module. It's probably fried from the overheating. Check for a no spark situation. The coil packs should be tested as well. If any are weak, replace all three. The coil packs don't like to be overheated either. My 2000 Grand Prix overheated once and took out a coil pack! I'd expect the total cost to be around $500 to $700 depending on where you go for the water pump replacement and the no start diagnostics and repair. Hope that helps! Jim
