Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Voyager was running fine 3 days ago, stopped at Kroger and filled up I was at a half tank. Here in Michigan you never let them get lower than a half when it is 20 to -15 deg. outside. So today I start the van and it is running very rough, keeps a shaky idle. I went and bought a bottle of Heet. Thinking gas line freeze from the fuel at Krogers.....this has never happen before. van has 223,000 on it, I am the owner since new. The Service Engine Light Came on Codes  12 - 27 - 43   what does this mean ?  Thank you for your time in helping me, Al Calender Berkley Michigan

The Van is shaking and when you put it in gear it wants to die. Could this be a Fuel injector control circuit ?

These vans are known for this problem and codes. The ECM/Computer overheats and sets the codes.

Could a gas line Freeze up (from bad fuel) cause this ? Code 27 is for the Fuel Injectors ? Water in the fuel maybe ? Thank you, Al Calender

when it gets below zero for a length of time....strange things begin to happen...I mean how long are you supposed to survive in a -0 environment? I think it's quite commendable that ANY vehicle can start in the morning~

Code 27 means no injector pulse. ECM/computer sends the ground to the injectors.

tuff4x4, could no injector pulse - be from frozen water in the fuel ? I drove the car on Friday it ran perfect 2:30 pm temp. 34 deg. then on Monday after setting the weekend and temps. falling to 10 deg. I was wondering about a freeze up....I have not had it happen to me before...first time. Another thing is that I had just filled up at Kroger 9gals. of fuel. Then drove 2 miles home and parked her for the weekend. Monday it runs like crap ? ? I am befuddled.

No. The ECM sends a ground signal to each injector at different times.Code 27 Injector Driver Interface Circuit{1} Injector Control Circuit. Code 43 is ignition coil circuit. The ECM also controls the ground to the coil. For both of these systems to malfunction at the same time the only thing that they have in common is the ECM not sending the ground signal.

Thank You , tuff4x4 your help is greatly appreciated. This would also make sense as to Code 12..... that was also one that came up. How they read was 12- 27- 43 - 55

Yes you may find one at a junk yard but pull your computer out and get the # or take it with you.

Took the van in to my local service garage and he put the big scanner on it. I was reading the Codes from turning the key and reading the blinks. He said that my # 2 Fuel injector went, and I should replace it. 30 bucks for the injector. plus labor. He is pretty fair on his labor. Way to cold here for me to try to work on it out side 7 degs.

Well I hope this fixes it but if it doesn't do what I stated. I just can't see both these codes for an injector. Keep us posted.

He put his 4000 dollar scanner on it and it said # 2 injector. I have driven the old girl for 4 or 5 days now, 1 long trip on the highway and she is running great so far. He is a good mechanic and reasonably priced too. I had him change my oil ( it was a little over due) and he caught that I had a broken sway bar link....so I went and got 2 new ones he put them on also.

I had same problem today but didn't put any fuel into it. Just drove 23 miles to my grand daughters school, it was fine on the way there. after the party I attended about a hour and half it started to back fire and run rough. same codes as stated earlier.

my 1997 plymouth grand voyager was running really well i have changed the coil pack cam sensor and 5mins ago changed the crank sensor and still not cranking should i change my auto shutdown relay
