Car overheating

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2000 pontiac grand am gt 3.4l that rings lIke a
frigging championship with 260k miles on it. Has power
when accelerating and does not sound rough at all. Has
been overheating on me. I had to add coolant each time.
Any suggestions on what it may be?

Do cooling system maintenance. Flush the engine and install new hoses and thermostat. A car with that many miles may need a new radiator though. Is there a visible leak? The coolant has to be going somewhere.

My daughter had a 2001 grand am doing the same thing to this day still do not know where the anti freeze was going but had to keep adding to it every 2 weeks so i put some alumu seal stop leak in it and that took care of the problem. Did not add to over flow tank took top radiator hose off of radiator and added stop leak in hose then reconnected hose. You can put it in over flow tank but will take longer to start working.
