Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Grand Am SE (4 cylinder) with a really good transmission in it
but the car has other problems that I dont have time to fix, I also have a 2001
Grand Am GT (6 cylinder) and the only thing wrong with it is its transmission. I
was wondering if it were possible to switch out the transmission from my SE
and put it into my GT

The only problem u may encounter is the shift points. Being that u r taking the trans from a 4 cyl and putting it into a 6 cyl. Now if u simply asking will they bolt up yes they should bolt up and be a direct fit. Or so that's what the Hollander interchange systems says

I would think it would work definitely for mechanical reasons... yet. one issue: You need to check where the screw settings and points are on both cars and do the measurements before taking them both off. Pontiac changes parts all the time to make you buy directly from the dealer. I have a 04 grand am. I went to the scrap yard to find my car and I did but, the car I found had just a slight model difference such as a SE GA and same year. My car isn't a SE . Went to look for a different windshield wiper assembly. Mine broke and I still haven't found my car at the junk yard, same make and model. And of course year. So I have to buy from dealer or find it online. You are better off just buying the part you need online!
